Julian Assange Escapes Part Of Sexual Assault Investigation

Julian Assange is one of the world’s most wanted men. One normally sees his name associated with the international whistleblower cable site Wikileaks, which has been in operation since 2006. Wikileaks has been the source for media information when things develop in the investigations of people accused of treason and espionage, such as the Edward Snowden and Chelsea Manning cases. Often, the name Julian Assange is seen alongside these names, though Assange claims to be neutral, and simply feels that people have the right to information. This makes Assange a person of interest for the investigative bodies of many countries, but Sweden wants to prosecute him for a different reason.

In August, 2010, Julian Assange was accused of four counts of inappropriate sexual trespass, including unlawful sexual coercion, two counts of sexual molestation, and a single count of lesser-degree rape. USA Today reports that one of the counts of sexual molestation, and the count of unlawful sexual coercion, have ceased to be pursued, because of an expiration of the statute of limitations, and a third count, Assange’s other sexual molestation charge’s statute, will expire on August 18. The Swedish government will remain vigilant in pursuing the rape charge against Julian Assange, because the statute of limitations still has several years to run.

Marianne Ny, a Swedish prosecutor, has offered a statement on the situation which has been relayed by the Guardian.

“Julian Assange has voluntarily stayed away from justice by taking refuge in the Ecuadorian embassy. Now that the limitation period has passed for some of the [alleged] crimes I am forced to discontinue the preliminary investigation in these parts. This means that the investigation of the events is left unfinished because the suspect has not been heard, which I regret.”

Julian Assange is an Australian national, so to be questioned about the remaining rape charge, Sweden must get permission to question him. The extradition laws of Australia allow Sweden to do this, but Assange has claimed in Ecuador at the London Embassy. In order for Julian Assange to be questioned, Sweden must negotiate with Ecuador to do so. This has resulted in a frustrating deadlock, allowing Assange to avoid charges for his alleged crimes.

This, by no measure, means Julian Assange will be in the clear if just waits out the remaining statute. According to Australia’s ABC News, Ecuador and Sweden have agreed to open negotiations to end this deadlock. If these talks are successful, Julian Assange fears that he could be extradited to the United States, where he may be brought up on further charges, including the collusion with enemies of the United States.

Constantine Maroulis arrested

Constantine Maroulis, American Idol Season 4 alum and current Broadway star, has been arrested on domestic violence charges at his home in Wyckoff, New Jersey, TMZ is reporting.

The 39-year-old Maroulis was arrested early Wednesday morning after his girlfriend and mother of his 4-year-old daughter, identified by E! Online as Angel Reed, called 911. She reported that Maroulis threw her to the ground and kicked her in the groin.

Maroulis, however, claims that he was acting in self-defense, saying that Reed became violent when he told her he was leaving her. Maroulis also claims that Reed threw an object at him, striking him in the leg. Constantine also claims, through his representative, that Reed has been violent with him in the past.

Maroulis’ rep issued an official statement to E! about his client’s arrest.

“[Constantine] did not throw her to the ground or kick her in the groin during this incident. He consequently left their home to protect himself and to diffuse the situation. Some time later, the local police came and arrested him for domestic abuse… Mr. Maroulis intends to defend himself vigorously, as well as protect his child, both in the court of law and, as necessary, in the court of public opinion and is confident that he will be completely vindicated when the truth is known. He thanks his family, friends, fans and supporters for their continued faith and trust in him during this challenging time and assures them that their belief in him is warranted.”

Constantine Maroulis competed on Season 4 of American Idol, wowing the crowd with hard rock performances on a show that otherwise favored pop artists, according to MTV. He made it as far as the top six — Taylor Hicks would eventually be crowned the winner.

After Idol, Maroulis toured for a while with his original band, Pray For The Soul Of Betty, before embarking on a successful solo career. In addition to a handful of TV gigs, Maroulis has been lighting up the stage on Broadway, appearing in Jesus Christ Superstar, Jekyll and Hyde, and perhaps most famously, Rock of Ages. He’s been nominated for a Tony Award for Rock of Ages, and won a Drama Award for Jekyll and Hyde.

After his arrest, Constantine Maroulis posted bail and was released. He has not publicly commented on his arrest as of this post.

The Marc Despain fatal shooting case will be delved into on the next episode of Dateline NBC. Last night, Dateline NBC Thursday discussed the case of cross-dressing Colonel Russell Williams. Tonight’s episode entitled “The Root Of All Evil” first aired in 2014. Marc Despain was a 34-year-old real estate appraiser who was found dead on the kitchen floor of his home in Arkansas four years ago. What started out as a potential robbery case quickly turned to a homicide investigation after certain clues were traced back to Marc Despain’s wife, Michelle, and her father, 59-year-old Carl Kelley. Michelle Despain was eventually found guilty of hindering prosecutorial apprehension and sentenced to 30 years in prison. Her father, Carl Dwayne Kelly, and hitman Terrence Baker, aka Qualow, were arrested and charged with first-degree murder, according to CBS 46.

Police investigators were summoned to the Despain’s residence in June, 2011, after receiving a 911 call from Michelle stating that her husband was dead inside the house. When police arrived at the residence located at 4320 Jenni Lane in the Layman Crest subdivision in Jonesboro, they found the body of a white man with gunshot wounds to the side of his body and to the face. Authorities say Marc Despain owned a real estate appraisal service and lived in the upscale neighborhood with his wife and their children.

As law-enforcement officials moved through the confusing scene, they found certain items strewn about the home, as well as a cup of partially melted ice cream and a cold beverage that had been placed on the kitchen table. Detectives say it appeared that the victim had walked into his home before he was ambushed by someone waiting inside.

The murder scene was made to look like a robbery, but police investigators quickly dispelled that theory. Neighbors told police that they saw a shady looking black man in the area just before the murder. Marc Despain‘s father, Jack, was one of the first people they suspected, since it came to light that the father and son had a troubled relationship brought on by false accusations of child molestation and money and property disputes, but he was quickly ruled out.

The case broke wide open after someone came forward, stating that a man named Terrance Barker, known on the streets as Qualow, had boasted about the killing. Once police spoke with the man, he eventually confessed to killing Marc Despain, but also implicated the man’s father-in-law, Carl Kelley, and the man’s wife, Michelle.

From left: Terrance 'Qualow' Barker, Carl Kelley, and Johnny Hubbard as they appear in 2015.

From left: Terrance ‘Qualow’ Barker, Carl Kelley, and Johnny Hubbard as they appear in 2015.

It took the cops months to get back the forensic computer evidence, but what they found was explosive. It appears that Michelle Despain and her father, Carl, texted back and forth in the hours leading up to the murder. Prosecutors believe that Michelle lured her husband out of the home to give the killer time to enter, and then waited for them to kill him once he stepped foot inside his home. A deep look into Michelle’s background revealed that she had a side lover that she was helping financially. Investigators deduced that Michelle and her father orchestrated the murder, so that she could benefit from the insurance money.

Today, Carl Kelley and Terrance Barker are serving out their 35-year sentences for first-degree murder. Johnny W. Hubbard was sentenced to time in prison for drug possession and hindering prosecutorial apprehension.

murder-made-me-famous-laci-peterson-scott-drew-peterson-menendez-brothers-natalee-holloway

Murder Made Me Famous is airing the sex-crazed Jodi Arias, Travis Alexander murder case on the Reelzchannel tonight, according to Broadway World. Murder Made Me Famous is a sizzling new TV crime series that will profile the cases of notorious killers who’ve become famous all because they’ve killed somebody. The Reelzchannel is giving Investigation Discovery, Oxygen, TV One, and the Lifetime channel some stiff competition since they have begun delving into the true crime genre. America’s fascination with true crime and murder dates all the way back to the turn of the century — maybe even before. And as new crime TV shows and new crime channels continue to pop up, it doesn’t seem like the public’s obsession with sex and crime will die down any time soon.

The new docudrama series will feature the cases of some of the most bizarre murders that have captivated the public and created a media frenzy. In addition to the Jodi Arias, Travis Alexander murder case, viewers can expect to see the case of Natalee Holloway, Laci and Scott Peterson, and the Menendez brothers. Drew Peterson will also have his story told on the new series. Each Murder Made Me Famous episode will recreate and dramatize the shocking crime. Also included are the personal stories of the victims’ family members and journalists who covered the case. You’ll also see police officers and other law enforcement officials weighing in on the crime. Steve Helling will offer his comments regarding this cases. Steve Helling is the well-known crime writer for People’s Weekly. His expert opinion will add just the right amount of insight that is sure to draw viewers right in.

Truth is, people find murder stories absolutely spine-tingling. And sometimes the more gruesome the murder, the better. When a person sees a gripping headline, it makes one wonder how something like this could have occurred. Once a person gets into the meat of a case, hearing all sorts of tiny details and fascinating tidbits makes the story all that much more compelling.

But more than that. There has to be some aspect of the story that connects with people, a story that pulls the reader (or the listener) in. It has to be a story that makes you “feel” for the victim. Nothing resonates with the American public more than seeing a person wronged. The immediate response is always a feeling of wanting to see justice. And there’s something else. In order for the media or the public to become intrigued by a killer — possibly making the murderer famous — it helps if the killer is beautiful or handsome. And the case has to include sex — lots of sex.

In the case of Jodi Arias, we saw pictures of a plain, dark-haired woman with glasses who went from matronly to seductive when her hair suddenly turned blonde and the glasses came off. Then we heard all the salacious details, which included information about their sexual activities — the frequency in which they engaged in sex, and the video taping of the their sexual escapades. Those are the “deets” that make for a exciting and engrossing case.

Don’t forget. The Jodi Arias story airs tonight. So grab a partner and some popcorn and be in front of your TV sets at 9 p.m. central on Reelzchannel. #Murderfamous

Teens Kidnap Border Agent At Gunpoint — Youth Had Prolific Criminal Histories, Gang Ties Probed

Teens kidnap agent in hotel parking lot

Federal Customs Agent Armando Alaniz was off-duty, unarmed, and on vacation with his family in Orlando when he was kidnapped by four armed teens Wednesday night.

Alaniz, 44, was nabbed just outside the Fairfield Inn and Suites in Orlando’s tourist corridor, while setting the GPS in his Chevy Tahoe to prep for a drive to the Florida panhandle the next morning.

There, four teens emerged and jumped the agent, 44, at gunpoint. They pistol-whipped him, shoved him into his Tahoe, took his wallet, and bound him with duct tape and zip ties. They kidnapped him for two hours, driving around the city, before the agent was finally able to escape, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

Armando was rescued after his wife called the police through OnStar after only a couple hours, My Fox Orlando reported. She’d grown concerned when her husband didn’t return from what should’ve been a quick and simple task in the parking lot.

After her report, reps called the Tahoe and heard a someone screaming for help. That’s when the teens ran from the car, leaving the kidnapped agent bound inside, just outside an unoccupied house that was later determined to be a drug den.

There, Armando was able to get out of his bonds and flee. He was hospitalized for a minor injuries, including four stitches to the scalp, and released.

“Because he was a law enforcement officer, I believe that he was well trained, he had a certain amount of calmness,” said Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings, according to Whas11.

So far, there’s nothing to suggest that the agent was kidnapped because he is a federal officer, nor that the four teens who kidnapped him even knew.

Police have already identified and arrested the four youths, some of whom have prolific criminal backgrounds already, according to the Sentinel. Those teens are Gregory McDonald, 19, and Dante Askins, 18, as well as an unidentified 15 and 16-year-old.

Demings had a message for the teens, whose gang connections are being probed.

“These high-school students were playing a dangerous game, and they got caught playing a dangerous game. If you are coming to our community with criminal intent, we want you to think twice about it.”

Askins had been arrested five times prior to Wednesday’s attack. He was charged as an adult two years ago for the attempted murder of a 15-year-old girl during a gang shooting. The charges were dropped, but his co-defendants were sentenced to time in jail.

The unnamed teens had also been arrested before. One, 15, had allegedly kidnapped someone about a year ago and charged; the other, 16, had been arrested for five felonies at age 13.

Though the man’s job as a border agent isn’t believed to have played a role, the Sentinel pointed out that last year, he’d stopped a tractor trailer hauling 150 pounds of meth as it attempted to enter the U.S. from Mexico.

Crimes in the area Armando was kidnapped have spiked and since Wednesday’s incident, police patrols have been increased.

Armed Robbery Attempt Caught On Video Shows Victim Fighting Back — Shooting One Of The Criminals 5 Times [Video]

Robbery Attempt Failed

An armed robbery attempt captured on surveillance video left one gunman shot five times in the chest and the victim wounded, as well. Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies said the owner of CAD Auto Parts, in Oakland Park, Florida, shot one of the armed robbers shortly after he was pistol-whipped and thrown to the ground.

According to the arrest report, 39-year-old shop owner, Andrew Hepburn, was sitting in his office shortly before the robbery took place. Conrad Bloomfield, 36, and another man drove to CAD Auto Parts in a gray 2012 BMW. Bloomfield looked into the office and then walked away. Shortly after, the second man peered into the office and told the shop owner, “Sorry, wrong address.”

Surveillance video caught the entire robbery attempt, showing a man walk back into the office and at gunpoint order store owner Andrew Hepburn to the ground. Deputies said Bloomfield pistol-whipped Hepburn when he took too long to lie down on the ground.

Bloomfield fumbled around as he tried to go through Hepburn’s pockets. The video shows Bloomfield stomping on Hepburn’s back and legs in an effort to keep him down on the ground.

The armed robber is shown grabbing Hepburn’s arms trying to keep them behind his victim’s back. While Bloomfield tried to hold Hepburn down, the other gunman looked as though someone was distracting him.

As the attempted robbery went on, Hepburn struggled with Bloomfield and managed to get his gun. As Bloomfield screamed for help, shop owner Hepburn threw Bloomfield to the ground and shot the criminal five times in the chest. Hepburn then proceeded to pistol-whip the villain while he lay on the ground.

WPLG reports deputies said the second gunman shot a bullet in Hepburn’s chest, while trying to escape the crime scene by running out of the store. The surveillance video shows another unidentified victim, who was sitting inside the auto garage, run after the unknown gunman.

According to the arrest report, the unidentified gunman left in the BMW. Deputies believe a third person drove the getaway car. Hepburn and Bloomfield were taken to Broward Health Medical Center, where they are recovering. Conrad Bloomfield was arrested and charged of attempted murder and attempted armed robbery.

The robbery and shootings were reported just before 1 p.m. at Northwest 17th Terrace and 29th Street.

Sheriff’s spokesperson, Dani Moschella, said the second gunman is still at large, according to coverage of this robbery by Sun Sentinel. Moschella added that Bloomfield suffered life-threatening injuries and is in serious to critical condition. Shop owner Andrew Hepburn is expected to survive.

Authorities urge anyone with information about the attempted robbery to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477 or Detective Trevor Goodwin at 954-321-4270. Crime Stoppers takes anonymous tips and offers a reward of up to $3,000 if an arrest is made.

Nelson Mandela’s Grandson, Mbuso, Accused of Raping 15-Year-Old In A Restaurant Toilet

Nelson Mandela's grandson accused of raping girl in restaurant toilet

The 24-year-old grandson of the late Nelson Mandela is facing rape charges, and his ex-wife is rumored to have used her bodyguard to intimidate the victim’s family.

South African law doesn’t allow the name of the accused to be released, so the local The Star newspaper only identified him as Nelson Mandela’s 24-year-old grandson. But The Guardian named the young man as Mbuso.

He is a descendent of the first of the anti-apartheid leader’s three wives, named Evelyn Mase. Despite his prestigious connections, police assure that he will be treated no differently than any other suspect.

The alleged incident took place in Greenside, a suburb of Johannesburg, The Independent reported, at an African-themed restaurant called Mammas Shebeen. The victim went there on August 7 with some friends.

Nelson Mandela’s grandson is accused of following the girl, who is 15 years old, into the bathroom. He then allegedly raped her in a toilet cubicle. Mbuso was arrested last weekend, and the girl is now receiving counseling. He appeared in court Monday.

The owner of Mammas Shebeen said his staff was unaware of any incident at this establishment that night, and unfortunately, footage on all of the restaurant’s eight cameras is stored for only 120 hours, and has since been automatically erased.

The Star also reported that Nelson Mandela’s ex-wife Winnie Madikizela, had a bodyguard follow the victim’s family. These rumors suggest that the bodyguard pretended to be a cop, “but when the father asked to see his badge, he didn’t have one.”

They contend that the bodyguard told them there was no need for the suspect to be arrested.

The famous grandson remains in police custody, remanded in jail while he awaits another court appearance.

This rape accusation is merely the latest in a string of scandals to plague Nelson Mandela’s progeny. He died in 2013 at 95, and has a total of 17 grandchildren; Mbuso was left $300,000 of his grandfather’s money in his will.

His eldest grandson, Mandla, 40, has been convicted of assaulting a fellow driver during a road rage incident. His granddaughter, Zoleka, said she was sexually abused as a child, and admitted to being an alcoholic and drug and sex addict. She also tried to commit suicide, buried two children, and suffered breast cancer. Following the leader’s death, his progeny have also fought over his money and the final resting place of three of his deceased children.

Actress Accused Of Child Abuse And Complaining That Victim, 14, Was Sexually Inexperienced

Actress accused of child abuse against troubled 14-year-old

Thirty years ago, a troubled 14-year-old child got an opportunity to meet an actress from her favorite TV show. In 2013, that woman — now married — has come forward to say the star abused her.

She kept it secret because she thought everyone would call her crazy, the Herald Sun reported.

Now, the accused actress, Maggie Kirkpatrick, who played a prison officer named Joan “The Freak” Ferguson in the Australian soap opera Prisoner, is alluding to the child’s mental problems in her denial that any abuse took place.

Back in 1984, the unnamed girl was in a psychiatric hospital for substance abuse and a personality disorder. The actress said that in those years, she often visited patients there, the Sydney Morning Herald added.

Kirkpatrick met the teen through another patient and acquaintance. Now 74, she said it was kindness that led her to pick up the youth and take her to her house for a meal, giving her a break from her time at the hospital.

The alleged incident happened in June or July of that year. The child went to Maggie’s home for dinner and they “ended up in Kirkpatrick’s bedroom,” where the alleged abuse occurred, according to police. The abuse included two counts of indecent assault and one of gross indecency. She appeared in court this week to answer the charges.

Years afterward, the victim’s husband said his wife revealed a bit about what happened.

“She told me she had been invited to a person’s place, a lady’s place, and that person was ‘the nasty one from Prisoner. She just said there were some sexual things that happened, but didn’t elaborate.”

But there’s this sickening detail — during the alleged abuse of the child, the actress was evidently dissatisfied that she wasn’t “experienced in a sexual way,” police said.

Maggie denies anything improper, and her description of that night in 1984 is much different. She said that while the child was in her house, she was cooking rabbit stew for their dinner and drinking wine, when she discovered her poking around her stash of liquor. The actress then returned the girl to the hospital, because the incident made her “uncomfortable.”

“(The claims) are untrue. They are making me feel quite ill. I don’t know where the allegations are coming from. They are malicious in my mind.”

A high school friend of the child who was allegedly abused by the actress remembers her as a “big fan” of Prisoner and about meeting Kirkpatrick, ABC News added.

“By my memory it was when she was at Newhaven and I don’t recall any of the particulars, just her making reference to it and her being very excited. The only thing I recall was an invitation [for her] to go somewhere… with Maggie. I remember that she was a big fan of the show and watched it religiously and would often refer to what she’d seen in the show, different episodes.”

Court hearings on the case will continue this week.

With Hidden Camera, Man Filmed Seven Men And Women Going To Bathroom At Starbucks

Hidden camera found at Starbucks is third such device in two months

There is a bit of a voyeurism problem in California right now. For the third time in a couple months, a hidden camera has been found in a public restroom, two in a Starbucks and another at a taco joint.

On Friday, a woman who stopped into a Brea Starbucks to use its unisex, single-user bathroom spotted a blinking blue light in bracket underneath a shelf, NBC Los Angeles reported.

Turns out, that blinking light was a hidden camera about the size of a marker. The anonymous woman removed it using paper towels to preserve fingerprints. Then, police went on the hunt for the person who tacked it there.

“It was aimed right at the toilet, so he would get people undressing to use the bathroom,” said Lt. Darrin Devereux.

At least seven people, men and women both, are known to have been captured on the hidden camera so far. Officials are combing the perpetrator’s seized electronics to find more victims.

The peeping tom who admitted to placing the device in the Starbucks bathroom is Melcher Carrilloalvarado, 44 (whose name was alternately spelled Melchor Carrillo Alvarado). Police had issued a picture of a person of interest who’d been seen milling in the area around the time it was discovered, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Because of “extensive media coverage,” Carrilloalvarado turned himself in to authorities, KTLA reported. He apparently arrived at the station to ask why his face was all over the news.

“He initially denied any involvement in the crime, but after investigators spoke with him, he did admit to placing the camera in the restroom,” said Devereux.

He’s been charged with seven misdemeanors and has since been released, but police are searching his home and taking a look at his laptop and other electronics.

Police don’t know how long the hidden camera had been in the Starbucks restroom.

Melcher’s son, Hector, has come forward since his father’s arrest to acknowledge he has a “problem,” which could need psychological treatment. Hector, 22, told NBC that his dad has taken responsibility for the “mistake,” and called him a “great father” and hard worker. Carrilloalvarado also has three daughters.

A psychologist named Dr. David Pincus told the station that sexual deviations like voyeurism can be controlled with treatment. But for the seven people filmed using the toilet, that’s likely not much consolation.

“You just never think it’s going to happen to you,” said the woman who found the device. “Once that device hit the floor and I saw the light, I immediately knew it was something, it was a camera.”

And there are more victims of other voyeurs. Two weeks ago, a hidden camera was found in a Del Taco restaurant. And last month, a 5-year-old found one in another Starbucks.

Underwater Drug Tunnel Scheme Leads To 55-Pound Cocaine Discovery By U.S. Border Patrol

Man faces 20 years in underwater drug tunnel arrest

Authorities are locking up one man in connection with an underwater drug tunnel discovered along the All-American Canal in Calexico, California. The tunnel started in Mexicali, and the drug smuggler nabbed was using it to transport cocaine. Evelio Padilla-Zepeda pleaded guilty in court this week in his case connected to the tunnel.

CNN reports that Padilla-Zepeda had been arrested after he was found wearing a wetsuit at the Calexico end of the underwater drug tunnel in April. Along with diving gear and scuba tanks, authorities found 25 packages of cocaine that had been carefully packaged.

As authorities investigated, they discovered that the underwater drug tunnel ran between the two locations. CBS8 details that on April 25, U.S. Border Patrol agents learned via a remote video-surveillance operator that someone was near the canal. When agents found him, and searched the area, they came across two re-breather tanks and the cocaine.

Padilla-Zepeda, 28, is a Honduran national. He pleaded guilty to possession of and intent to distribute a controlled substance in a federal court Wednesday in San Diego. He faces a maximum of 20 years in prison for his drug smuggling via the underwater drug tunnel. Padilla-Zepeda faces sentencing in December.

The underwater drug tunnel was about 50 yards long and started at a house in Mexicali, notes People. Padilla-Zepeda detailed that he had originally believed he would be helping people make their way across the border between Mexico and the United States.

However, when he got to Mexico, the Honduran man was told that he would be moving drugs instead. He claims that he had no choice but to go along with it.

The investigation detailed that the smugglers used a trolley system in the underwater drug tunnel. The drugs departed from the dry side of the tunnel on Mexicali, then smugglers in wetsuits would retrieve the drugs on the California side.

In Padilla-Zepeda’s case, 55 pounds of cocaine were found. As was previously reported by the Inquisitr, investigators have not revealed what more they may know about those behind the tunnel.

A number of drug tunnels have been discovered along the border of Mexico over the years. Some would say, though, that the underwater drug tunnel utilized by Evelio Padilla-Zepeda and potentially others took things up a notch.

At this point, authorities have not detailed whether more arrests might be coming in this case. However, people can be certain that the All-American Canal area in Calexico where this underwater drug tunnel was found is going to be watched closely going forward.

Molly Shattuck’s Sentencing: A Paltry 48 Weekends In Jail — Parents Call Former Cheerleader A Rapist

Molly Shattuck sentencing much less than 15 year max

Convicted sex offender Molly Shattuck fell to her knees Friday during her sentencing in a Maryland courtroom, however, the punishment fell short of what her victim’s parents wanted.

Before the sentencing, the unnamed parents of a 15-year-old boy the woman was accused of raping last year asked for the former Baltimore Ravens cheerleader to be incarcerated, WBAL reported

They called Shattuck a rapist and said she should be thrown in jail as an example to other potential pedophiles, the Associated Press added. They said the effect of Molly’s abuse on their son has been devastating.

Instead of a continuous term, Shattuck will serve 48 weekends in jail over the course of the next two years. The maximum sentence she could have received was 15 years in jail.

In June, she pleaded guilty to fourth-degree rape and admitted to performing oral sex on the teenager at a beach house in Delaware last Labor Day, as the Inquisitr previously reported. She was originally faced with two counts of third-degree rape, four counts of unlawful sexual contact, and three counts of providing alcohol to a minor.

Molly began a dalliance with the boy in Maryland around May 2014; by Labor Day weekend, she performed oral sex on him at a vacation home in Bethany Beach, Delaware. She is 47.

According to NBC News, Shattuck first contacted the boy, who attended the same school as her own son, through Instagram.

During Friday’s sentencing, she was reportedly sobbing; her family was present in the courtroom. She was seen praying beforehand, and fell to her knees, wept and apologized after her sentencing.

“I will spend the rest of my life making this right,” she said.

However, her defense lawyers deflected blame for the act to her now ex-husband, who they say was having an affair with a younger woman, an act that pushed Molly toward the teen.

In addition to the 48 weekends in jail, Molly’s sentencing includes monthly reports to a probation officer, therapy, and registration as a sex offender.

A mother of three, she was the wife of Baltimore businessman and CEO Mayo Shattuck, a socialite and fitness author. She was also the Raven’s oldest cheerleader when she was hired in 2005 at age 38.

Misha Collins: ‘Supernatural’ Angel ‘Totally Fine’ After Minneapolis Mugging

Misha Collins

Supernatural actor Misha Collins is “totally fine” after being mugged, robbed, and beaten outside a bar in Minneapolis over the weekend, the New York Daily News is reporting.

The 41-year-old Collins, who plays angel Castiel on the hit CW show, was in Minneapolis on Friday for the “official” Supernatural convention, known around the Twin Cities as “MinnCon.” On Friday night, Collins took a break from the festivities to have some adult beverages and stopped by a Minneapolis bar. On the way out, he was followed by three men, whom he claims beat him and robbed him.

Misha’s Supernatural co-star, Jim Beaver, wrote a Facebook post — which has since been removed — describing what had happened to his friend. It’s unclear why Beaver deleted the post, but E! Online was able to share its content before it got deleted.

“My buddy and Supernatural colleague Misha Collins was followed out of a restaurant in Minneapolis by three men last night and beaten and robbed. He’s all right, more or less, with some stitches and a fat lip. He’s going on with his photo ops at the Supernatural convention he’s attending this weekend… I hope this clears things up a bit for those who’ve been inquiring.”

From there, Misha’s plight took on something of a life of its own on social media, as convention attendees — and other fans — began asking each other about Misha’s condition. Other horrified fans noted that he showed up at a convention photo op in stitches.

Finally, at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Collins himself took to social media to set the record straight.

Ever the professional, Collins kept up his commitment to his fans, posing for pictures and doing his panels like he said he would.

Collins’ Supernatural co-star Osric Chau issued a challenge to Misha’s fans, asking them on Twitter to perform random acts of kindness in Misha’s name (Misha’s charity is called Random Acts and it encourages people to do the same).

As of this post, Minneapolis police have made no arrests in Misha Collins’ assault.

Women bring pepper spray, razor to fight on JetBlue flight

Flying is stressful. So stressful, sometimes, that you have to whip out your eyebrow razor and pepper spray if someone gets in your face.

Apparently, after a JetBlue flight from Jamaica landed at JFK Wednesday, two women couldn’t handle the pressure of air travel anymore. They unleashed weapons and had an epic fight right in their seats, and their hot tempers resulted in one injured Good Samaritan and a bunch of sickened JetBlue passengers, CBS Local reported.

In this corner, by the window, was Jean Ballentine, 61, of Brooklyn. In the other corner, sitting right next door, was Mary Cannady, 52, of Linden, New Jersey. And here’s how the fight went down, according to accounts from the New York Daily News and PIX 11.

After the JetBlue flight landed Wednesday morning and was taxiing toward the terminal, Ballentine (by the window) started to climb over Cannady, sparking the fight, a Port Authority spokesman explained. Cannady responded by pushing her off. And then Ballentine cracked her across the face.

Now, the fight was on. As fellow JetBlue passengers looked on, a man nearby tried to break up the scuffle, but Ballentine was already in a full rage and whipped out her eyebrow razor, slashing at the man’s elbow.

With a three-person fight underway, Cannady pulled out her weapon of choice — a canister of pepper spray. And she aimed it right at Ballentine and pulled the trigger, spraying her full in the face.

It wasn’t immediately clear how the fight was ultimately split up, but the two women are now in deep trouble. First of all, several fellow JetBlue passengers were sickened by the pepper spray and had difficulty breathing. They were treated by EMTs and released. The Good Samaritan with the slashed elbow was also treated; the wound was minor.

As for Jean and Mary, they’re facing some criminal charges for failing to keep their tempers at bay. Ballentine was arrested on assault and weapons charges, and Cannady for possessing pepper spray.

But here’s the million dollar question: How were these women even able to bring their weapons on the JetBlue flight in the first place? Without them, this fight may have just been a battle of fists, rather than a fight of drawn blood and burned eyeballs.

The answer is simple: Officials at Kingston Airport in Jamaica were responsible for checking passengers for weapons. If the JetBlue flight had originated in the States, neither of those women would’ve been allowed to bring their weapons of choice on board.

Ferguson Police Charge De'Eris Brown With Murder

A St. Louis, Missouri man was charged Thursday with killing nine-year-old girl Jamyla Bolden. Jamyla was doing her homework while sitting on her mother’s bed when shots were fired into her home on August 18.

St. Louis County prosecutor Bob McCulloch charged 21-year-old, De’Eris Brown, of O’Fallon, Missouri, with second-degree murder in the killing of young Jamyla Bolden. Associated Press reports that Brown also faces three counts of armed criminal action and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon by shooting at a building.

In a probable cause statement, Ferguson officer William Ballard said Brown fired shots through a bedroom window. A witness was able to identify Brown as the shooter, and, later, he allegedly confessed. Police did not provide a statement on the possible motive for the shooting; however, they did say Jamyla was not targeted.

In addition, police would not say if someone else in the house, or thought to be in the house, was the target; however, Jamyla’s mother is recovering after allegedly being struck in the leg with one of Brown’s bullets.

Currently, De’Eris Brown does not have an attorney to comment on the allegations.

Interim Police Chief Andre Anderson said the crime emotionally affected police officers of his department.

“It was a tragedy. It had an impact on us, and it’s certainly something that we all don’t want to see again.”

The Daily Mail reports the tragic shooting of Jamyla happened at a small ranch-style home in Ferguson, a few blocks from where 18-year-old Michael Brown was fatally shot by police officer Darren Wilson on Aug. 9, 2014. A grand jury and the U.S. Department of Justice declined to indict Wilson, but the shooting sparked some violent protests and helped drive a national Black Lives Matter movement.

Mayor James Knowles and Police Chief Anderson said the city’s efforts to change the way it does policing shortly after the Justice Department’s report and the unrest following Michael Brown’s death, incited cooperation that ultimately helped lead investigators to the suspect. The police department or the mayor did not divulge the tips that led to De’Eris Brown’s arrest.

However, Mayor Knowles provided the following comment.

“I think that’s a prime example of how our community-oriented policing model is working today and will continue to work in the future.”

Police Capt. Dan DeCarli offered his comment in agreement with Mayor Knowles.

“Basically this was old-fashioned police work. You get out and talk to the community and follow leads that are provided.”

According to Capt. DeCarli, the shooter was on foot and was alone at the time of the crime. Capt. DeCarli added that the police are not looking for additional suspects.

The death of Jamyla resonated throughout the St. Louis area, prompting a vigil and calling for an end to violence.

Jamyla Bolden was a fourth-grader at Koch Elementary School. Her funeral is scheduled for Saturday.

De’Eris Brown is currently jailed on $750,000 cash-only bond.

Jared Fogle: Former Subway Pitchman Turned In By Ex-Franchise Owner

Jared Fogle

Jared Fogle, the Subway pitchman for 15 years who this summer found himself facing child pornography and child sex abuse charges, was undone by comments he made to an ex-franchise owner. Fogle was bragging about his fondness for underage girls, according to MSN.

Former Subway franchise owner Cindy Mills says she met Fogle in 2008 and exchanged telephone numbers with him. For reasons that aren’t particularly clear, Fogle allegedly began telling Mills, via text messages, that he paid for sex with underage girls.

Among the claims that Fogle allegedly made were that he had traveled to Thailand to have sex with minors, according to Fox News. Ms. Mills also reported that Jared claimed he had paid for sex with a 16-year-old girl he met on Craigslist.

Alarmed, Mills took this information to a Florida regional Subway executive named Jeff Moody, says Mills’ lawyer, Jeff Beasley. At the time, Moody was the head of the Subway Franchisee Advertising Fund Trust, Subway’s marketing division.

Mills claims, via her lawyer, that Moody blew off her concerns about Fogle, according to The New York Post, telling her he “didn’t want to hear any more.” Mills also claims that Moody said that he’d heard similar complaints about Fogle – it’s not clear from whom – and claimed Fogle had met with “a teacher who would keep him grounded.”

To Beasly, Moody’s complete lack of interest in his client’s claims about Fogle just meant that Subway was aware of what Fogle was allegedly doing.

“To me, it was confirmation that they knew about it.”

Jeff Moody, as of this post, has not responded to these allegations about his role in the Fogle affair. When contacted by The Associated Press, a woman who identified herself as Theresa Moody said that Jeff Moody did not want to give a statement.

Mills said that she thought about suing Subway, but due to the complicated legalities governing the company’s relationship with Jared Fogle, the company is “insulated” from legal actions arising from Fogle’s conduct.

On August 19, Jared Fogle agreed to plead guilty to a variety of charges related to child pornography and sex with underage girls. Fogle will pay $1.4 million in restitution to his victims – $100,000 each to 14 victims – although the deal doesn’t prevent any of the victims from pursuing further legal damages against Fogle. He’ll also serve no more than 12.5 years in prison, but no fewer than five.

Jared Fogle is scheduled to be sentenced on November 19, according to The Indianapolis Star.

Shooting Spree By 19-Year-Old Leaves 3 Dead, Child Injured

A gunman went on a shooting spree, killing two women and a man and injuring a girl at a home in eastern Tennessee. There were a half-dozen children in the home that witnessed the shooting, according to authorities.

NBC Newscoverage includes a statement by the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office.

“Officers found two adult females inside the home with gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. A male victim was also found to be suffering from gunshot wounds. He was airlifted to the Johnson City Medical Center where he later died.”

The 19-year-old suspect, identified as Robert Seth Denton of Bristol, Tennessee, was shot and wounded by another family member during his getaway. The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office said Denton was caught and apprehended a short time later.

Leading up to horrible shooting, the gunman parked his vehicle a short distance from the home, walked up a steep hill, and opened fire when he reached the house near Bristol, Tennessee, Sheriff Wayne Anderson said Sunday.

Associated Press reports a brief comment about the shooting by Sheriff Anderson.

“From what I’ve seen and heard, he just took ’em by surprise. It just all happened real fast. It’s the most horrific thing I think I’ve seen.”

Authorities had not yet identified the victims.

Denton was charged with three counts of first-degree murder, aggravated assault, and felony reckless endangerment.

Investigators were trying to determine a motive. However, Sheriff Anderson told a local television station, WCYB that Denton appeared to be related to the family living in the home.

Anderson talked with WCYB about the shooting spree.

“Apparently he’s a family member but I’m not sure what relationship he is. He made it up here where they live in their house, went in with a long-gun, I can’t say specifically what it is right now, but he went in with a long-gun, and he just started shooting everybody.”

Sheriff Anderson said one child suffered a non-life threatening injury.

“There might be some shrapnel or something else that entered her leg as a result of the shooting. He didn’t turn the gun on her. Something ricocheted or a fragment went into her leg.”

Neighbor Darrell Grey said he was sitting on his patio next door when the shooting began. He said he heard about 10 to 12 gunshots and screaming. The shooting rampage lasted about a minute, he said.

“Everything happened so fast,” he said in a phone interview Sunday. “It was just a barrage of ‘pow, pow, pow.'”

Grey added it’s common to hear gunshots from hunters in the rural area where they live.

“But this time we knew it was something different because it was too many shots together.”

Grey said that, after the shooting ended, he saw a man running down the long driveway.

Sheriff Anderson said another relative of Denton caught up to the suspect and shot him in the left shoulder while he was trying to flee the scene of the crime.

Anderson said, “Somehow this other family member got down to the bottom (of the driveway) and shot him in the car while the guy was driving away.

Denton drove a short distance before stopping to ask someone to call 911. The sheriff said Denton was taken into custody about a half-mile from where the shooting spree took place.

Denton was treated at a local hospital and then taken to jail.

San Antonio Gunman Shuts Down Highway

A stretch of I-35 near San Antonio was closed this morning as officers found themselves in the midst of a standoff with a gunman. According to Fox,the standoff took place between mile markers 84 and 85 around 4 a.m., forcing a shutdown of the San Antonio highway in both directions and causing traffic to back up for several miles.

Officers with both the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office and the United States Border Patrol were on the scene on the crowded highway near San Antonio. According to KENS 5, the standoff started as the result of the man running from United States Border Patrol agents on the San Antonio highway early Monday Morning.

According to deputies on the scene, the man was stopped by U.S. Border Patrol agents during a routine traffic stop just outside of San Antonio before taking off and leading the chase. During the chase through the crowded San Antonio highway, the suspect’s tire failed when he made the decision to get out of his car and continue running on foot. Deputies on the scene stated that the suspect involved in the standoff currently has an outstanding warrant in Bexar County, the county that encompasses San Antonio and the surrounding areas.

Currently, the standoff is still active as the dozens of members of law enforcement local maintain the closure of Interstate 35 and work to coerce the gunman to surrender. San Antonio law enforcement has informed the media that there is currently a negotiator on scene, working with the gunman.

Motorists have been stuck in a standstill on I-35 since 4 a.m., and as of yet, there is no sign that the San Antonio suspect plans to give in any time soon.

According to Fox, drivers commuting the San Antonio highway have posted photos of a man wearing a red shirt and standing in the brush near the roadway to their website. However, San Antonio law enforcement has not confirmed that the man witnessed in the photos is actually the suspect associated with the incident.

While the city is known for basketball, members of the San Antonio community are taking their eyes off the ball and are remaining focused on this developing story. San Antonio law enforcement has not yet informed the media of the name of the suspect or the reason for the suspect’s outstanding warrant. However, if you happen to be stuck in the long-standing traffic jam on I-35 near San Antonio this morning, you may want to get comfortable, as the standoff in San Antonio seems to be nowhere near over.

Cop Went To Wrong House In Georgia, Gets Shot

Cop went to wrong house

A cop went to the wrong house in Georgia, while responding to a burglary call, and ended up getting shot on Monday night.

According to a report by USA Today,DeKalb County Public Safety Director Dr. Cedric Alexander said the officers received a phone call about a burglary that was taking place, and were only told a vague description of the location. They were told that the suspicious person was near Bouldercrest Road, but the officers were not given an exact street address.

While responding to the emergency call, the officers accidentally entered the wrong house at Boulderwoods Drive, which matched the description given by the 911 caller, and then gunfire was exchanged, resulting in one officer and the homeowner being struck.

“We did respond to the wrong residence tonight and then these other circumstances unfolded,” Alexander said.

When the three officers arrived at the residence, they found an unlocked screen and unlocked door, and believed an intruder was inside, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The officers said they announced their presence, but it is not currently known why the situation escalated to the use of weapons, and whether or not the homeowner had a gun.

“The residence that these officers responded to,” Alexander said, “is the wrong residence that was in question.”

The officer was wounded by a bullet in the thigh, and was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he underwent surgery and was listed as being in critical condition. The homeowner was also treated at the hospital for injuries. However, his condition is currently not known. Both of their identities have not been revealed. The homeowner’s dog was also shot and killed.

“There was gunfire, I just cannot tell you who fired and who did not,” he said.

“A lot is yet to be determined here as to what and when shots were fired, how the officer received injuries, how the homeowner received injuries,” Alexander added. “But we did respond to the wrong residence tonight.”

DeKalb police have asked the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to help them with their investigation into the shooting.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out the homeowner,” Alexander said. “And our thoughts and prayers go out to the officer who suffered a severe, critical injury here tonight and lost a lot of blood. We just hope both of them recover well.”

Kent State In Lockdown

Kent State Regional Academic Center at Twinsburg was placed under lockdown due to a possible shooter in the area. Three people were shot in a police-involved shooting on Sherwin Dr. near Darrow Rd. in Twinsburg on Tuesday, according to a report by Fox 8 News.

Two people are dead. A bullet grazed the third person. No officers were injured.

Twinsburg Police responded to a domestic violence situation.

Akron Beacon Journal reported local resident John Ruda said he had just returned home with his family from dinner when a number of police cars came screaming into the neighborhood.

Ruda added he pulled out his cell phone and began recording and then ducked for cover as he heard police officers screaming at someone followed by numerous gunshots.

“Police cars were driving onto lawns and they came out with their guns drawn.”

McKenzie Aigler, 18, said he knew the older couple who lived in the house where the shooting occurred.

He said the couple’s son and his wife also lived on the property.

“They were the nicest couple in the neighborhood.”

Ken Coon, who lives on the corner of Sherwin Drive and Darrow Road, said he was inside with his 6-year-old grandson when shots rang out.

Coon’s grandson turned to him and said, “Papaw. You hear someone’s shooting?”

Coon said the neighborhood is normally a quiet place to live, adding, “In today’s society, this could happen anywhere.”

The Kent State Regional Academic Center and has since been reopened, Kent State confirms.

The university said the shooter was never on their campus; however, all evening classes remain canceled.

Twinsburg police ordered the nearby Kent State Regional Academic Center on Creekside Drive into a lockdown. This is the first week of classes at the university.

The lockdown was eventually lifted around 7 p.m.

Police officers from several departments including the Summit County Sheriff’s office had to converge on a residential street near the Kent State center.

Akron Beacon Journal‘s coverage of the shooting and the Kent State lockdown reports a woman posted a Tweet on Twitter Tuesday evening saying she lives in the neighborhood and heard four or five shots.

WKYC received exclusive video of the actual shooting from a witness who was at the scene.

WARNING: The video is very loud and graphic.

Kent State spokesperson Eric Mansfield said there were about 200 students and faculty in the Twinsburg Regional Academic Center when the lockdown was ordered.

Bureau of Criminal Investigation spokeswoman Jill Del Greco confirmed that agents from her agency are currently assisting local police with the investigation.

Police say the area is now secure. No other details have been released.
