When faced with a carjacking, a Georgia father instinctively reacted by jumping onto a moving SUV in an attempt to rescue his 8-year-old son, who was still in the backseat.

The incident happened on Sunday when Malcolm Milliones was at a Murphy USA gas station on Old National Highway in Georgia with his fiancée and his son, Rashaan.

Milliones said his fiancée had stepped inside the store to pay for the gas, and as he was about to fill up the car, a young man jumped through the SUV’s passenger window and drove off with his son still sitting in the backseat.

“I was just taking the gas cap off while she was going in to pay for it,” said Milliones.

A nearby surveillance camera captured the shocking episode, which showed Malcolm holding on to the SUV whilst the thief attempted a speedy getaway.

“I was shrieking, I hate to admit it, but … I’ve never been scared before until now. I never really felt fear until now, honestly.”

“I didn’t care how I did it, I didn’t care if I had to break my hand or use my elbow to get into [the car].”

Milliones was dragged for about a quarter of a mile as he held on to the side of the SUV and banged on the window. He eventually fell and broke his arm, but he’d successfully distracted the carjacker long enough for his son to jump out of the then-slowed vehicle.

Proud of his father’s heroics, Rashaan, who escaped unharmed, gushed – “I would say it’s cool and brave for my dad to jump on a car and get his arm broken for me.”

Fulton County Police are still looking for the stolen SUV, which is a silver 2014 Kia Sorento. And the carjacker and his accomplice are still at large.

Georgia Father Jumps On Moving SUV To Save 8-Year-Old Son In A Carjacking [Video] is an article from: The Inquisitr News

Sophia O’Neill, a 2-year-old toddler from Minneapolis, was allegedly beaten and “stomped” to death by her mother’s teenage boyfriend. KTLA reports that the 17-year-old killed Sophia because she “wouldn’t stop crying.” The 17-year-old teenager, also a resident of Minneapolis, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder. His name and identity has not been revealed because he has been charged as a juvenile.

The horrific incident happened on the afternoon of June 10 when authorities responded to an emergency and were dispatched to a home at around 12:35 p.m. local time. The initial report they received was of a child who was not breathing.

Upon reaching the home, Sophia was found to be in a critical condition and was quickly taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center. She died nine hours later of her injuries, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported. Doctors who treated Sophia revealed that the 2-year-old had suffered terrible injuries. A statement issued by the Hennepin County Attorney read,

“Sophia had multiple bruises, including extensive bruising to back and abdomen. Specifically, the doctors who tried to save O’Neill found that she had a split kidney, split pancreas, liver damage, rib fractures, both new and healing, a collapsed lung and other cuts and bruises,”

Meanwhile, the 20-year-old mother of Sophia told authorities that she had left her daughter with her boyfriend on the day of her death. It is unclear as to what exactly happened that day. However, a neighbor informed police that the 17-year-old teenager knocked on his door at around 12:25 p.m. and asked whether he could use his cellphone. 10 minutes later, he returned to his home, this time with the limp Sophia in his hands. The neighbor immediately called 911 and administered CPR on the toddler.

The statement from the Hennepin County Attorney, Mike Freeman, added,

“In an interview with police, (the suspect) admitted that when she wouldn’t stop crying, he kicked the child twice in the back and then laid her on the floor and stomped on her back. This was a brutal beating that is almost beyond comprehension.”

The suspect is currently in police custody and made his first court appearance on Monday at the Hennepin County Juvenile Justice Center. A certification trial to determine whether he should be tried as an adult is pending. The case is still ongoing and a pretrial hearing is scheduled for July 9 after which it would be decided if the teenager should be given a harsher sentence if he is convicted in Sophia’s murder

This latest incident of violence against children is among several other cases that the Inquisitr has reported over the course of the past few weeks.

After a nationwide sweep, the government has charged 243 people for Medicare fraud, which involved $712 million in false billings.

At a press conference on Thursday, Attorney General Loretta Lynch and Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Mathews Burwell made the announcement. Lynch described the arrests as the largest criminal health care fraud takedown in the history of the Justice Department.

According to the FBI, the arrests began on Tuesday as a part of “a coordinated operation in 17 cities by Medicare Fraud Strike Force teams, which include personnel from the FBI, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Department of Justice (DOJ), and local law enforcement.”

About 900 law enforcement officials were involved in the cross country sweep, which resulted in the biggest number of arrests in U.S. health care history.

“This action represents the largest criminal health care fraud takedown in the history of the Department of Justice and it adds to an already remarkable record of enforcement,” Attorney General Lynch noted in a statement.

“The defendants charged include doctors, patient recruiters, home health care providers, pharmacy owners and others. They billed for equipment that wasn’t provided, for care that wasn’t needed and for services that weren’t rendered,” she said.

Adding, “In the days ahead, the Department of Justice will continue our focus on preventing wrongdoing and prosecuting those whose criminal activity drives up medical costs and jeopardizes a system that our citizens trust with their lives. We are prepared- and I am personally determined- to continue working with our federal, state and local partners to bring about the vital progress that all Americans deserve.”

The arrested individuals include 46 doctors, nurses, and other licensed medical professionals, Reuters reports. With the charges stemming from a number of fraudulent schemes, including submitting claims to both Medicare and Medicaid for unnecessary treatments and medical care that was essentially not provided.

For instance, a mental health facility billed almost $64 million for psychotherapy sessions that turned out to simply involve moving patients from one location to another.

One other case involved a Michigan doctor who would unnecessarily prescribe narcotics to his patients in exchange for the patients’ identification information, which was then used for the fake billing. These patients then became addicted to the prescribed drugs and found themselves bound to the scheme by the sheer need of accessing these narcotics.

The majority of the arrests were in Florida, an alleged epicenter for Medicare fraud. Miami housed 73 defendants who were charged with false billings of approximately $263 million.

Since the 2007 inception of the Department of Justice and Health and Human Services’ Medicare Strike Force, over 2,300 defendants have been charged with false billing.

These dubious operations were discovered in Miami, Tampa, Houston, Los Angeles, Detroit, Brooklyn, New Orleans, and Dallas and McAllen in Texas, where it was uncovered that the Medicare program was fraudulently billed for over $7 billion.

Although it is virtually indisputable that Wednesday night’s mass shooting at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, was a hate crime fueled by racism, coverage of the crime’s aftermath brings about questions regarding white privilege in a racially polarized America.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, the sole suspect in the case was arrested earlier today in North Carolina. Dylann Storm Roof, a 21-year-old white male, was arrested at a traffic stop in Shelby, North Carolina, on Thursday morning. Reports from a survivor of the attack as well as cursory reviews of Roof’s Facebook page indicate the suspect harbored deep running resentment and overt hostility towards African Americans. Of particular note to many was a picture from Roof’s Facebook page in which he sports a jacket featuring the flags of Apartheid-era South Africa and white-dominated Rhodesia. The Facebook page is now offline.

Questions regarding how police and media have handled and depicted Roof began shortly after his arrest, gaining momentum via social media. Many are asking how a white, armed suspect in a mass shooting could be taken alive without incident, especially considering a recent spate of killings of African-American males by police. BBC News recently published an article (prior to the South Carolina shooting) reviewing some of the most high-profile cases, including those of Michael Brown, Eric Garner, Walter Scott, and Freddie Gray. On Twitter, many posts decrying the apparent differences in police tactics and temperaments with regard to Dylann Roof’s treatment carried the hashtag #WhitePrivilege.

Similar concerns were expressed via Facebook.

“Can someone explain to me how this guy killed nine people and was not killed by police upon contact with them when unarmed raza or Africans are murdered constantly, Amado Guzmán wrote.

A meme also points out that police appeared to handle Roof with relative kid gloves during his first “perp walk” before the media, showing a picture of Roof with police juxtaposed against an image of a white police officer sitting on a 14-year-old African-American girl during the course of a controversial arrest at a pool party in McKinney, Texas earlier this month.

Media coverage of the South Carolina shooting has also raised questions regarding how race factors into media descriptions of suspects, noting that Roof has been described in comparatively sympathetic terms considering. One meme compares a headline from the Daily Beast that describes Roof as “quiet and soft spoken” with a New York Times piece on Ferguson shooting victim Michael Brown that alleged he was “no angel” because he smoked, drank, and rapped.

Salon’s Chauncey DeVega maintains there is a racial double standard in America that becomes increasingly clear with a cursory review of the media coverage surrounding the South Carolina shooting. He includes a list of questions and phrases that will not be used by media outlets in their discussion of the white suspect, noting that similar questions are commonplace when a suspect is African American, such as “is something wrong with the white family?” and “what should law enforcement and white politicians do about white crime?”

“Once and again, white privilege is the power to be the ultimate individual where one’s actions and behavior rarely if ever reflects on the collective character of white people en masse,” DeVega asserts.

Indeed, despite the lingering presence of broad-based and systemic issues that perpetuate and exacerbate race-based antagonisms in today’s America, there remains a prominent lack of cohesive and coherent strategies that might ultimately yield the type of social justice needed to assuage racial tensions once and for all. Tragedies like the South Carolina shooting – both the heinous crime itself and its emotional epilogue – bring the ugliest facets of the country’s dysfunction to the forefront, time and again.

Thursday’s Dateline NBC examined the case of Leslie Neulander, a woman who was found dead in her shower by her husband, Dr. M. Robert Neulander, of Syracuse, New York. Each week, Dateline NBC profiles new cases that have baffled police. In many of the cases presented, the verdicts were controversial. This case is no different. People who know Dr. Robert Neulander say that he is a wonderful man who would never harm anyone—let alone the mother of his lovely children.

But law enforcement officials say that Robert Neulander bludgeoned his wife to death and tried to make it look like she had fallen in the shower. Police hadn’t arrived at that decision initially. In the beginning, Leslie Neulander’s death was considered to be an accident. The truth didn’t become apparent until police started to look further into the couple’s background.

The mysterious case began in September 2012 with a phone call to 911, alerting detectives that a woman had fallen while in the shower at her home. When entry was made inside the DeWitt home located on Shalimar Way, police found the body of a white woman lying unconscious in the bedroom. Robert Neulander told authorities that initially he had found his wife in the shower but moved her to the bedroom in order to perform CPR.

The victim was identified as 61-year old Leslie Neulander, a housewife and philanthropist in Fayettville and Syracuse. An autopsy report initally confirmed that her death was an accident. But friends of Leslie Neulander were not so sure. One friend in particular was sure that Leslie had not really fallen in the shower, that something more sinister had to be the cause of her death. Turns out she was correct. An autopsy report would later confirm that Leslie Neulander had sustained a gash to the head that might not have been consistent with a fall.

Detectives also learned that Robert Neulander removed the bed sheets and instructed the housekeeper to clean the room and the bathroom. Prosecutors alleged that this was Neulander’s way of removing evidence that would have indicated that his wife’s death was actually a murder.

Prosecutors also alleged that Dr. Neulander and his wife were headed for divorce, and that the doctor had landed himself in trouble by overcharging for services to an insurance provider—later causing the provider to terminate the contract with Neulander’s practice. This termination caused him to lose at least half of his business. They also learned that, in the weeks leading up to Leslie’s death, her will had been changed.

A jury agreed and found Dr. M. Robert Neulander guilty of second-degree murder. Dr. Neulander’s children stuck by him. But, his friends were shocked that Neulander, who had spent so much time helping others, could find himself in such a predicament.

Sadly, Leslie Neulander’s loved ones were left trying to come to terms with her untimely death. According to her obituary, she left behind “her four children, Brian, Emily, Jenna and Ari, and three grandchildren.”

Thursday’s Dateline NBC episode followed police on their journey to hold a killer accountable for murder. Did the doctor murder his wife or was this all an unfortunate accident?

Robert Durst, the infamous man who has been connected to more than three deaths, is the latest subject of Dateline NBC Friday. Just when you think there is nothing more to learn about the cases of Robert Durst, more stories come out of the woodworks. Durst first came to the attention of the public in 1982 after he was suspected in the death of his wife, Kathie McCormack. Then he was named a suspect in the death of Susan Berman, a friend who was found murdered in 2000.

Authorities believe that Robert Durst has information about the disappearances of 18-year old Kristen Modaferri, who vanished in 1997, and Lynne Schulze, a college student in Vermont who disappeared during the time Robert Durst owned a health food store in the area. The 1997 disappearance of Karen Mitchell from Eureka, California, is also connected with America’s most mysterious man.

Over the years, the Durst case has fascinated the public. The 2010 movie All Good Things starring Ryan Gosling and The Jinx: The Life And Deaths Of Robert Durst are both based on his case. ABC News had the chance to catch up with Robert Durst to discuss the true-story movies that were based on his life. About the movie All Good Things, Durst made the following comment about the fight scenes.

“This is close. After a number of years, before I would go to her family’s house for a function I would insist that we agree on how long we were going to stay — two hours, three hours, four hours. We would do a negotiation. When the time was up, I was ready to leave. Reports indicate that escaped convicts David Sweat and Richard Matt may have been spotted recently in two separate incidents in New York after their prison escape. The two men escaped from the Clinton Correctional Facility in New York on June 6, and a massive manhunt has been taking place ever since. Police are now sharing some specific details about the search for the two men after witnesses report they saw men matching their descriptions.

According to ABC News, police now confirm that David Sweat and Richard Matt were spotted, potentially, near a rail yard on June 13. That sighting happened in Erwin, New York as witnesses report that they saw two men walking near a rail yard. Additional reports have come in indicating that two men were spotted in the town of Lindley near the border of Pennsylvania, and the descriptions matched the prior sightings. The second spot is about 17 miles away from the first spot.

Police confirm that the descriptions of the men from the separate sightings match the descriptions of Sweat and Matt. The sightings came from areas about 300 miles from where the two men escaped. Reports indicate that investigators have interviewed multiple witnesses in both communities regarding the sightings. They have also scoured surveillance footage, though the video is said to be inconclusive.

The possible sightings came from separate people, CNN shares, and the incidents were not reported until June 16. Police released details of the possible Sweat and Matt spotting on Friday. Also on Friday, a corrections officer was placed on administrative leave related to the investigation. This person’s name has not been released, and this is the second prison employee tied to the escape.

As was previously reported by the Inquisitr, prison tailor shop instructor Joyce Mitchell has been arrested for her role in the escape. Authorities warn those in the area to be on the lookout for men matching the description of Sweat and Matt and they are considered to be quite dangerous. Sweat was convicted of killing a sheriff’s deputy in 2002 while Matt was convicted for beating and killing a man in 1997.

While David Sweat and Richard Matt were spotted a week ago now, if indeed they are the men witnesses saw, authorities are not letting up on the hunt and say they will pursue the men relentlessly until they are captured.While the search is focused in the area of the prison and sightings, the investigation has stretched to the Mexican and Canadian borders as well.

The former Republican presidential nominee said Saturday that the confederate flag flying over Charleston, South Carolina, should be removed. The confederate flag is currently raised on a flagpole outside the state capitol building in Charleston.

The confederate flag has long been seen by many has a symbol of racism. People also see the flag as a pro-slavery statement as well. Those who fly the flag often see it merely as a way to express their southern pride.

As the New York Times notes, Romney has been advocating doing away with the controversial flag for some time. Mitt first made his stance on the confederate flag apparent in 2008 when he first ran for president.

Mitt Romney’s words have put some pressure on other Republicans — particularly 2016 presidential hopefuls — to address the issue. Jeb Bush, who’s running for president, ordered the removal of the confederate flag from the capitol building in Tallahassee during his time as Governor of Florida.

Other Republicans have shown more sympathy toward flying the confederate flag. Ted Cruz, the Republican Senator from Texas who’s also running for president, said South Carolina should be able to fly the flag. He also said that he understands both sides of the debate.

“I also understand those who want to remember the sacrifices of their ancestors and the traditions of their states, not the racial oppression, but the historical traditions and I think often this issue is used as a wedge to try to divide people.”

As reported by Huffington Post, the former Hewlett-Packard CEO, Carly Fiorina, another Republican candidate for president, also voiced her support for South Carolina’s right to fly what flag they choose to.

“I think it’s clearly a symbol that is very offensive to many, but my personal opinion is not what’s relevant here.”

The pressure on South Carolina to remove their confederate flag comes after the recent racially-motivated attack on a black church in Charleston. A gunman entered the church and killed nine people, including the pastor who was also a former state senator.

Pictures of the gunman — identified as Dylann Roof — along with a manifesto found online, show that he was obsessed with racist ideologies. One picture shows the gunman wearing patches of the flags of Apartheid South Africa and Rhodesia both nations that white supremacists identify with.

Requiem For The Dead: American Spring 2014 is a new HBO documentary that tells the tales of several individuals who lost their lives to guns in the Spring of 2014. Each day, more than 80 Americans lose their lives due to gun violence — totaling more than 30,000 fatal shooting deaths annually. Requiem For The Dead: American Spring 2014 seeks to tell the true-crime stories of some of the few who died tragically that Spring.

The way directors Shari Cookson and Nick Doob presents these stories to the viewer is drastically different from the way most documentaries approach these very personal stories. Requiem For The Dead included a large portion of social media information gathered on the deceased subjects to create the story.

The following is according to director Shari Cookson.

“This film is stylistically different than any film we’ve ever done, but our point of view as filmmakers is what drove us to go in the direction we did. We wanted the film to revolve around the life and times of our characters… This is a film about life as much as it is about death.”

The directors found it both sad and fascinating how these victims have documented their own lives right up until their deaths. Looking at the crime victims’ social media pages, such as Facebook, shows exactly what the victim were doing or thinking, just minutes or hours before the abrupt end of their lives.

According to NOLA, Nick Doob sheds more light on the process of pulling the documentary together.

“In this film, obviously, our subjects were no longer living. We decided early on that we didn’t want to make a film made up of remembrances — interviewing family and friends, talking-head experts, etc. We also didn’t want to re-create the circumstances of their death, using actors. We didn’t want that quality of looking back. We wanted to make a film that had a kind of present-tense authenticity and felt real. “

HBO viewers will see some graphic and disturbing images as these stories are highlighted. They will also hear the sad details of the way the victims died through new reports, police documents, and when possible, 911 calls.

As HBO’s dedicated viewers tune in to this cutting edge documentary, they will get a sense of the horror of what it is like to lose someone suddenly in the most bizarre ways. ‘Requiem For The Dead': HBO’s New Documentary Will Profile Spring 2014 Shooting Death Stories Of Americans Using Social Media is an article from: The Inquisitr News

Rooted in America’s recent political history, the phrase “follow the money” is now being applied in the dissection of events that sparked last week’s mass shooting at Emanuel AME Church in South Carolina. As previously reported by Inquistr, the online manifesto of alleged shooter Dylann Roof indicates he was inspired to carry out the aforementioned crime after reading online material from a white supremacist organization called Council of Conservative Citizens. According to the Guardian, that same organization has contributed thousands of dollars to The campaigns of a number of Republican candidates.

The Guardian‘s report indicates that Council of Conservative Citizens head Earl Holt III has donated a total of $65,000 to Republican campaigns over the course of “recent years,” including the campaigns of GOP presidential hopefuls Ted Cruz ($8,500), Rand Paul ($1,750), and Rick Santorum ($1,500).

“We just learned this evening that Mr. Holt had contributed to the campaign,” a spokesman for the Cruz campaign said in an email to The New York Times. “We will be immediately refunding all those donations.”

The political action committee affiliated with Rand Paul that received Holt’s donations has pledged to donate the funds to a charity established to aid victims of the South Carolina shooting. The New York Times reached out to Rick Santorum for comment but did not receive a response.

In a statement posted online, Earl Holt III — who reportedly listed his occupation as “slumlord” in some of his donation papers — defended his organization’s positions and prior statements and said that shooter Dylann Roof had “legitimate grievances.” By and through his organization, Holt stopped short of endorsing the murders, stating that the Council of Conservative Citizens “does not advocate illegal activities of any kind, and never has.”

It is difficult to know whether a loose affiliation with the persona and politics of a notorious hate group will ultimately tarnish the images and aspirations of any of the politicians who received such tainted donations. Nevertheless, it’s a safe that bet scores of Republican politicians will be combing through their donation records in the days and weeks ahead to cull any similar contributions from their ranks. In addition to the above-noted presidential candidates, The New York Times notes that several high-profile current and former members of congress also received money from Earl Holt III, including Ohio Senator Rob Portman and Minnesota Representative Michele Bachmann.

The South Carolina shooting and its aftermath have again brought concerns over right-wing terrorism and questions of white privilege to the forefront of American discourse.
Indeed, the apparent fact that a white supremacist organization explicitly supports key mainstream politicians and their platforms is yet another regrettable dimension in the country’s long history of racial discord. The Latrice Maze-Jahleel Hoskins no body-murder case will be featured tonight on a new episode of Fatal Attraction. Latrice Maze disappeared from her home and was thrown in a dumpster the day she went missing. Her body has never been found.

TV One’s Fatal Attraction is a weekly program that highlights true-story cases of domestic couples whose loving relationships go awry and end in murder. In tonight’s Fatal Attraction, viewers will see the tragic story of Latrice Maze through reenactments and personal interviews with law enforcement and family members.

Latrice Maze was a 26-year-old mother who vanished from her Grand Rapids, Michigan, home in March, 2013. Hours earlier investigators say the mother of five called 911 to report that her boyfriend, Jahleel Hoskins, had attacked her. Law enforcement officials arrived at the home but found no evidence that an altercation had taken place.

Maze told investigators that her live-in-boyfriend had grabbed her and shoved her toward the back of the home. Packed bags belonging to Latrice Maze indicated that she had planned to leave the home, but she told investigators that she had decided to stay.

Court documents show that Jahleel Hoskins asked police to kick Latrice Maze out of the home, but they informed him that they had no authority to evict anyone. Officers suggested that the two leave the home for the night, until things had cooled down — but both refused.

Cops offered Latrice Maze a ride to a family member’s home or to a shelter. Maze can be heard on the police’s dash cam video stating that she did not want to go, and didn’t feel that her life was in danger.

Sadly, her life was in danger. A cousin of Jahleel Hoskins would later confess to police that Jahleel Hoskins admitted that he thought about killing his girlfriend while she was in the bathroom soon after officer left the scene.

According to the cousin, Jahleel waited until Latrice Maze came out of the bathroom, then choked her to death before grabbing a bed sheet from her daughter’s room, wrapping her body in it, and throwing it in a trash bin.

Maze’s family reported her missing the next day after she failed to pick up her babies from school, something family members say that she would never do. Police returned to the scene the next day, but found nothing out of the ordinary. Jahleel Hoskins told cops that he had no idea where she was and had nothing to do with her disappearance.

Family members already knew that Maze was most likely not alive, and that Hoskins had everything to do with whatever happened to her. After repeatedly denying his involvement in her death, in a shocking turn of events, Hoskins admitted to choking and killing her during a fit of anger as the jury prepared to return a verdict. Hoskins sobbed while he admitted the truth about what happened to her, perhaps expecting a lighter sentence. But once the judge returned a 50- to 100-year sentence, Hoskins exploded in court.

According to Mlive, prosecutors say that Jahleel Hoskins killed Latrice Maze because he believed that she was going to turn him in to authorities for stabbing the father of two of her children in a bar fight weeks earlier. Hoskins, who was on parole at the time of the murder, was willing to do anything to avoid going back to prison. Prosecutors also told the courts that they believe that Latrice Maze’s body was most likely incinerated after Hoskins discarded it in the dumpster and will most likely never be found.

Today, Jahleel Amon Hoskins sits in a Michigan state correctional facility.

The Mississippi State Auditor, Stacey Pickering, announced that the Alcorn County Sheriff, Charles Rinehart, has been arrested. Along with two others, the Alcorn County Sheriff faces 10 counts of fraud and conspiracy.

The charges against the Alcorn County Sheriff were filed due to an investigation into the purchase of six cars over three years from the Cars for Less dealership owned by Teddy and Pamela Denise Null. According to the indictment, the Cars for Less dealership submitted false quotes for the vehicles in order to ensure that Alcorn County would purchase the cars from them.

Sheriff Rinehart submitted the bids to the county for the purchase of the cars. Teddy and Pamela Null did not disclose the condition that the vehicles were in. The investigation also uncovered that the cars may have been rebuilt with stolen parts. Auditor Stacey Pickering went into more details while speaking with the media.

“Based on our investigation, Sheriff Rinehart used his position to manipulate the system. Teddy Null and Pamela Denise Null conspired with the Sheriff to ensure their company received the Sheriff’s business while not disclosing the condition of all the salvage vehicles to the County. In addition, our investigation has uncovered questions relating to the business operation at Cars for Less in Alcorn County. The Behavior of the Sheriff and this vendor is deplorable and will not be tolerated.”

Last week, Sheriff Rinehart was issued a demand for payment in the amount of $181,161.93. It was discovered that the Alcorn County Sheriff misused funds that were to be used for The Alcorn County Regional Correctional Facility Technology Fund, The Alcorn County Sheriff’s Commissary Account, and The Alcorn County Regional Correctional Facility.

District Attorney John Weddle has assured the citizens of Alcorn County that corruption will not be tolerated by any public official.

“Alcorn County citizens deserve fair and honest public officials they elect to office. They should expect their officials to have good judgment in dealing with vendors. This indictment is another step forward in protecting the people of this district from fraudulent practices.”

Rinehart posted his own bail that was set at $25,000 and his first appearance in court is scheduled for July 1, 2015.

These incidents are not the first time that Rinehart was on the wrong side of the law. A former employee of Sheriff Rinehart, Michelle Cohoon-Loyd, filled a sexual harassment suit against the sheriff in 2013. The lawsuit states that Sheriff Rinehart attempted to kiss Cohoon-Loyd on two separate occasions in 2012.

Charles Rinehart was elected Alcorn County Sherrif in 2008.

A Vaughan cafe shooting has left two people dead and two people injured.

According to CBC News, York Regional Police say that a man walked into a Vaughan, Ontario, cafe and opened fire on Wednesday, June 24.

The gunshots could be heard at approximately 8:18 a.m. Wednesday morning at the Moka cafe on Highway 7, near Islington Avenue in Vaughan. According to York EMS, there were two victims declared dead at the scene, and two others were injured and taken to a GTA hospital with life-threatening injuries, Inside Belleville reports. The identities of the victims, including their names, genders, and ages, wouldn’t be released until the next of kin had been notified.

The police are in the early stages of an investigation into the Vaughan cafe shooting, and are also not releasing any details regarding the suspect. They are, however, asking for any witnesses to come forward.

The Moka cafe was previously known as the Doppio Espresso Bar, and is located between a Pizza Pizza and a convenience store. Because that area of the interstate stays pretty busy, and the shooting occurred during the morning rush, the police are hoping that there was someone that caught what happened.

“If a person was in that area at that time, if they have cameras, that would be absolutely a big help,” Const. Laura Nicolle said.

“If anyone has any kind of video, or was in that area and noted anything – noted a vehicle speeding away or anything like that – we would absolutely want to hear from them,” she added.

Carmen Palma, an employee at the Active Green and Ross Tire and Automotive Centre located in the strip mall, said she didn’t hear the shooting because their compressors were so loud. She didn’t even know anything had happened until the police showed up and started closing down the street.

“We just seen cops come by, and then they started closing down the street, so we didn’t see anything at all,” Palma said. “We just see the aftermath of everything.”

“It’s pretty scary. It’s kind of scary,” she added. “If we would have got here a little bit earlier we would have gotten caught right in the middle of it.”

The television series, which will air on the USA Network, ties right in with the latest disturbing trend of hacking into celebrity files and releasing all sorts of embarrassing information to the public. The cast of Mr. Robot stars Rami Malek as Elliot, Carly Chaikin as Darlene, and Portia Doubleday as Angela Moss, according to The Internet Movie Database (IMDB).

Directed by Niels Arden Oplev and written by Sam Esmail, Mr. Robot introduces us to the scary world of cyber-surveillance and being followed by men in black suits. Elliot is a young computer programmer who is employed by a cyber-security firm by day and a vigilante computer hacker at night. With no social skills of his own and without the ability to connect with people, Elliot gets his thrills by hacking into people’s account and spying on them — gathering all sort of private information. But what starts out as mere fun and a warped curiosity about other people’s lives takes a more complicated turn when Elliot is recruited by the leader of a hacker group to bring down the same company that he works for.

For tech-savvy people, the terminology will be easy to understand, for others — not so much, but even the technologically challenged will be thrilled with the whole concept of computer hacking and the talent and skill that it takes to be able to pull it off.

Mr. Robot is reminiscent of the 1990s movie Enemy of The State, which centered around the world of hacking and government surveillance. According to Will Smith, this stuff is real — even your computer camera can be an entry way for computer hackers.

“The thing is with movies anything that you see in a movie, you have to believe that we’re ten [or] fifteen years behind.”

Everyone, to some level, is paranoid about other people being able to see into our private lives. This is the part that is so fascinating to people, and the Mr. Robot TV show will be able to keep the interest of viewers for weeks to come. The murder of Betsy Faria, aka Elizabeth Faria, the 42-year-old mother who was killed in her home in Troy, Missouri, will be the focus of tonight’s Dateline NBC.

Tonight’s episode, entitled “Game Night,” is a repeat but with updated information. Betsy Faria’s husband, Russ Faria, was found guilty and convicted in her death, and the verdict was controversial. Prosecutors alleged that Betsy’s murder was all part of a twisted fantasy game planned by Russ and his friends. But people who know Russ don’t believe for one minute that he killed his wife. Even the jurors who convicted him hoped that Russ Faria could get a new trial since they were not able to review some of the evidence that could have changed the outcome of the verdict.

Elizabeth Betsy Faria was a mother dying of cancer when she was found dead in her home in 2011. The cancer was so bad that she had already started to make plans for her death. What no one knew was that Betsy would end up dead in a savage way — not from natural causes.

On December 27, 2011, police responded to a frantic 911 call, indicating that a woman had been found dead on the floor. When officers arrived at the Troy home located at 130 Sumac, they found a middle-aged white woman with multiple stab wounds to the body. Upon inspection, officers could see a knife embedded in the woman’s neck. The victim was identified as Betsy Faria. Russ told law enforcement officials that he found his wife dead on the floor after returning home from a game with friends. Those friends confirmed his alibi. Still, Russ Faria was their prime suspect. They interrogated him for hours and days following Betsy’s murder, but Russ’ story remained the same.

As police continued to investigate, they learned that Betsy’s friend, Pam Hupp, had taken her home that day and was perhaps the last person to see her alive. Pam Hupp was also the woman who escorted Betsy to the library so that she could make Hupp the beneficiary on a life insurance policy, instead of her daughters. Years later, Hupp told police that Betsy Faria did not want to leave the money to her girls, but instead, she wanted her (Hupp) to have the money. That statement was drastically different from the statement she made to police one day after Betsy’s murder in 2011. The Faria daughters have since tried to sue to get the money back.

Meanwhile, Russ Faria sat in prison, accused of murdering his cancer-stricken wife. Supporters of Russ Faria say that he is innocent and that someone else close to Betsy actually stabbed her 55 times. Was it Russ, or was he framed? And more importantly, will he get a new trial? The Eric Somuah, Katrina Ben fatal attraction murder case will be examined tonight on the next episode of Dateline NBC this Friday. Eric Somuah was a handsome luxury car dealer in the Maryland area who was fatally shot by his neighbor and part-time lover, Katrina Ben. Court records show that Katrina Ben, whose complete name is Katrina Renee Benn, flew into a jealous rage and shot Somuah in the head after a night of sex when she discovered that he had a slew of lovers on the side.

35-year-old Katrina Ben was a traveling oncology nurse and single mother living in the same apartment complex as Eric Somuah. Court records show that after Katrina Ben’s husband died of pancreatic cancer, she and Eric Somuah became close friends, with Somuah often helping her out in times of need. Authorities say that friendship quickly progressed to a sexual relationship. But Katrina Ben had it all wrong. Eric Somuah had no intentions on having an exclusive relationship with her. His family knew nothing about Katrina Ben, and he had planned on keeping it that way.

A check into his background revealed that the affluent car dealer had a number of women coming in and out of his apartment at night for sex. He was handsome, and he had money — allowing himself every opportunity to indulge in his fantasies. Sadly he underestimated the lengths that Katrina Ben would go to in order to get revenge.

Coworkers knew something was wrong when Eric Somuah failed to show up to work. And when police went to his home, they found him in his bed with a gunshot wound to the head. The position of his hands and body indicted that he was shot execution-style as he slept.

The case baffled police. In the days after the murder, detectives canvassed the neighborhood, speaking with as many neighbors as possible to find out who could have killed him. One neighbor admitted that she had a “romantic relationship” with Eric Somuah but knew nothing about how he died. That neighbor was identified as Katrina Ben (Benn).

She also denied owning a gun. With no leads and no real suspects, the case went cold. A year later, a “good Samaritan“ found the discarded murder weapon and turned it into police. Investigators were able to track the gun to a pawn shop that listed Katrina Ben as the owner of the gun.

Ben was arrested at her home in Mississippi. At trial, prosecutors say that after Eric Somuah had sex with Katrina Ben on the night of June 6, 2012, he fell asleep. At some point, she discovered that she was not his only lover, leading her to shoot him in the bed as he slept. After killing him, she slipped out of his bedroom, locked the door to his apartment, and discarded the gun. Over the next several days, she paid her respects to his family and attended the funeral, as if nothing had happened.

According to the Gazzette, family members were shocked to learn that Ben was the killer. Katrina Ben’s family members have remained supportive of her, and say that she has been falsely accused. A jury disagreed. She was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Today, she is still doing time in a Maryland correctional facility. The case is similar to the Lance Herndon-Dionne Baugh fatal attraction case. In that case, Herndon was another handsome African American man with money who juggled several women at once. He was found in his Roswell mansion naked in bed. His lover, Dionne Baugh, had allegedly bludgeoned him to death after a night of passionate sex. She has since been released from prison.

Tonight, the news magazine will chronicle the murder of Russel Douglas and detail how Peggy Sue Thomas, a former beauty queen and her lover rock musician James “Jim” Huden, were connected to the case. Popular crime writer Ann Rule will discuss the case that rocked Whidbey Island. Ann Rule’s book Practice to Deceive is based on that shocking case.

Russel Douglas, was murdered in 2003 on Whidbey Island. Detectives found him in his bright yellow vehicle slumped over. As detectives moved in more closely, a gunshot wound right between the eyes was apparent. Someone had shot and killed the young man. It was an eerie scene on the isolated dead end road, and police scrambled to find out who had killed Douglas.

As police delved deeper into the homicide investigation, they learned that the last person to see Russel Douglas was Jim Huden and his lover Peggy Sue Thomas. Police were shocked to learn that Peggy Sue Thomas was a former beauty queen and aircraft mechanic. The question was how did this loving mother and former beauty queen entangle herself is this high profile crime case.

People who knew Jim Huden and Peggy Sue say they were a handsome whirlwind couple. By then, Peggy had transformed herself from a chubby mom to a sexy vixen through diet and exercise. According to Ann Rule, she also became a seductress who was a professional at luring and attracting men. That’s what hooked James Hudon, aka James Huden. Being a rock musician, Huden had all kinds of women who desired him, but Peggy Sue Thomas was the one who turned his life upside down. In their relationship, there was alcohol, there were drugs, and there was sex — lots of sex.

But what connected Jim Huden and Peggy Sue Thomas to this case was Russel Douglas’ estranged wife Breanna, a well-known beautician. Police learned that Russel and Breanna’s marriage was on the skids. More than that, Breanna’s beauty salon business was having financial problems. But here’s the kicker: The victim’s estranged wife also knew Peggy Sue Thomas.

Perfect High is a new Lifetime movie that is set to premiere tonight on the popular cable channel designed for women. According to Lifetime Television’s official website, Perfect High serves a cautionary tale. All around the country high school and college students are becoming hooked on prescription medications. Those medications are oftentimes entry way drugs for more deadly substances such as heroin. Perfect High is produced by Brainstorm Media, Just Singer Entertainment, and Sepia Films, according to the Internet Movie Database (IMDB). The cast stars Bella Thorne as Amanda, Daniela Bobadilla as Riley, and Ross Butler as Nate.

Written by Anne Marie Hess, with Vanessa Parise directing, Perfect High centers around a popular high school dancer whose life is spinning out of control after she is sidelined due to a knee injury. Prescription drugs help manage her pain but things take a turn after she runs out of her meds and is introduced to the world of unauthorized prescription drugs. Amanda’s life is in danger once she is offered a cheap Mexican painkiller by a guy on campus that turns out to be heroin.

In the trailer we see Amanda’s life go in a downward spiral due to her drug addiction. We also see her lose control once her dance coach tells her that she won’t be able to dance on the team. That part of the story sounds a lot like a true-story case that happened out of Edina, Minnesota. In 2013, a popular cheerleader was threatened with being thrown off the team due to her arrest for three counts of felony controlled substance possession. The University of Minnesota cheerleader danced on the Golden Gopher Spirit Squads.

According to the report by Fox News Twin Cities, the student was seen on a campus surveillance video appearing intoxicated. She was approached by police who found hydrocodone, oxycodone, and marijuana in her backpack. Authorities also found an electronic scale. Her name was removed off the school’s cheerleading website after her arrest.

Lifetime has stated that the inspiration for Perfect High came from various cases that are happening around the United States. Some of these sad cases have ended in high-speed car crashes and deaths from drug overdoses. Perfect High is meant to expose the growing problem on school campuses and to help others by sharing these stories.

Nilda Sheffield, a 53-year old Greenacres grandmother, is suspected of killing her family and herself in a murder-suicide in Florida. Authorities say that Nilda Sheffield shot and killed her daughter, Elizabeth Flores, age 30, and her grandchildren, Sofia Chido age 2, and Xavier Neff age 7, —before shooting and killing herself. Police have offered no motive for the killing.

The murders were discovered on Saturday after a family member went to the Greenacres home to check on them. Instead, the person found a blood bath and several dead bodies—all with gunshot wounds. Investigators received the 911 call from the frantic family member and arrived at the home located at 4661 Chariot Circles.

Neighbors say they don’t know what may have caused today’s massacre, stating that the family members stayed to themselves and were very private. Tiffany Hise told CBS-Local Miami that though the family was quiet, she wasn’t surprised by the tragedy.

“No, I’m not (surprised). Not that I know of anything that’s happened like that here before. But the quality of individuals that live here it’s not surprising.”

Another neighbor told Daily Mail that she and others heard a loud noise which sounded like firecrackers. She states.

“We heard like firecrackers and I said to my daughter are you sure it was fireworks. She said ya mom it had to be fireworks last night so we didn’t think about it.”

Outside the home, a small crowd gathered as they watched the events unfold. Family members of the deceased victims were seen outside crying hysterically. Not much is known about Nilda Sheffield. But a background check shows that she is also known by the name Nilda Reyes, aka Nilda I. Reyes, and has lived in West Palm Beach, Florida and Lake Worth, Florida. A fund has been set up to help pay for the cost of memorial services for the deceased, according to GOFUNDME.

“We are at a true loss for words at this time. We are all still trying to wrap our heads around this horrible tragedy. We have lost 4 precious lives. Nilda, 53, Elizabeth 30, Xavier, 7 and Sophia 2. May they all rest in peace. On behalf of Liz and her family, we ask that you consider any donation, large or small, to help with the funeral expenses. Thank you for your support through this unthinkably difficult time.”
